1996 Fonseca Port

Guimaraens Single Quinta Vintage Port (Price includes a solid oak gift box with silk liner as illustrated)

Tasting note:
Complex and elegant bottle matured bouquet. Plum and cherry fruit with spicy, aromatic background. Lean, stylish wine with good structure. Fresh, firm finish that holds well.
"It is not without reason that Fonseca is described as the Margaux of the Douro; its wines have a femininity and grace that never flatter to deceive. The 1996 Single Quinta is a perfect example; combining fresh aromatics and layers of berry fruit flavours with a firm but unobtrusive tannic structure. Enormously concentrated, and perfectly balanced this wine is archetypical Fonseca." Parker, buyers Guide.

Blandys Madeira, 1996

Malmsey Colheita Madeira

Blandys Colheita Madeira is aged in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system, whereby the wine is gently heated by warm air in the lofts of the company’s south-facing lodge in Funchal. Over the years the casks are transferred from the top floor to the middle floor and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine is regularly racked during the ageing process and is finally bottled when the desired balance of maturity is reached. Blandys 1996 Malmsey Colheita Madeira 50cl is 100% Bual and is a medium rich style of Madeira.

Chateau Certan-de-may, 1996

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Moderately saturated medium red. Somewhat riper aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, smoke, tar, tobacco and pepper, plus a hint of green coffee beans. More intensely flavored and vinous than the '97; in a rather fruity style but a wine of modest sweetness. Finishes with tongue-dusting tannins and more length than the '97, but still betrays a slight greenness. (ST) (5/1998)

Chateau Duhart Milon Rothschild , 1996

Pauillac 4th Growth Classification

*** 92 Points Wine Advocate ****

"The 1996 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild is aging in wonderful fashion, to wit, a straight down the fairway Pauilliac. Now at 20 years of age, it has developed a fresh and very brine-scented bouquet with plenty of undergrowth and bell pepper aromas. You could almost imagine a bit of Loire Cabernet Franc in here! The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry, impressive body and backbone, likewise more than enough freshness on the structured finish laced with white pepper and bell pepper. Very classic in style, this is a Duhart for traditionalists, but I for one appreciate its style.
